Broken Heater?

hello everone I have this small tank and I needed to use it's heater for a quarentine tank (don't worry there was nothing living in that tank)But the frog in quarentine died so I dissposed of the body but (sorry about the stupidity ) I left the heater on! about a week later I went back into the room where the quarentine tank was to get the heater back,but the water had evaporated, it was very hot and it had a weird coating on it.For a while I just accepted it was broken and bought a new one but now I need it because I have a spare guppy that I can't get rid of (don't get me wrong,I like the little fish but his friends all died of dropsy and he might have it as well)so I was wondering,is the heater really broken beyond repair?

though i cant be sure. the coating is, probably, lime scale. if you need a heater, buy another. even if it does heat. you have no way of knowing about damage in the thermostat. its just not worth the hassle. well if you value your stock.

yea your probably right about the coating and getting a new one

theres no harm in giving this information so
it's a 25 watt aqua one heater
as I said the coating is like lime scale
and a ight does go on
