So...I'm trying to feed some vegetables to my bristlenose. He used to eat some cucumber very nicely. Then I just did algae wafers for a while.

Anyway, I tried some snail jello (made with peas) for him and instead of eating it, he pulverized it.....spiking it and everything.

So, figured maybe he didn't like it. Tried some carrots, totally ignored them. Just put in a blanched piece of cucumber today....he keeps headbutting it and spiking it, tossing it all over the tank.

And now I look over...he's eating it..then fighting with it again....why??? Lol. Is this normal behavior or because he's the only fish in the tank and is coming into his own so to speak? Lol. It is sort of comical to watch but I hope I'm not stressing him out!

My bristlenose fights with the amazon sword I've barely kept alive (probably due to her fighting it) and its right outside the wood she claims as a cave.

Sorry about your sword! Lol. At least I know he has some spunk. He should do just fine in the big tank with a 3 spot gourami then. Lol. Other fish too of course!

Sounds like a normal BN to me.

When I had a pair ( I sold the female too many fry ) and the male was looking after fry that just hatched he would often push a bit of zucchini into the cave for the fry to munch on, so I started dropping a catfish pellet in front of his cave, sure enough he pushed the pellet inside some how.
