Gosh, it seems there are a lot of BN fans on here.

They're fun little fish to watch, and only so many plecos stay under 7" when fully grown but some of them get really expensive BNPs are pretty cheap so they're popular

Here is the tail fin damage I mentioned. Battlescar or rot? Health risk or not ?

I think he's fine.  It will either grow back or it won't.  It doesn't look like fin rot.

Does it look like that at all?

I think your guy is just fine.

Yeah, def. not fin rot.  He'll be alright. Even if it doesn't grow back, you can name him something awesome like butch or something lol.  Cool rocks btw :)

Regarding the missing chunk from tail, I noticed a couple of nicks (not so big) in the other one too. I took them both out and gave them some fin repair med in the quantine tank. The one pictured above has almost grown the missing chunk back in a week ! The other one with the two smaller tail fin nicks has not repaired but not shown any signs of further damage or deterioration either. They were returned to the main tank this weekend and have been very actively scrubbing the glass and plants, no further damage sustained. I wonder if my cheeky tiger barbs were a bit too curious when they were first added.

I would say the tigers are probably responsible for the nips :) Mine are a bit over curious with new comers as well ;)
