Bristlenose is losing colour!

It could be your light coloured substrate as it might try to blend into it's environment, my female did the same in her first week and her colours have come back slowly, my substrate is light in colour too. I do also suggest wood for it's diet.
I concur, I think this is what it is. Unless the patches are fuzz... are they?

I also agree that plecos need driftwood. They will suck on it and get wood fiber, which helps with digestion.

Agree, this is all that it is.

No it's not fuzz. Doesn't look like his skin coming off either. Just looks like loss of colour. Thanks, I'll get some this weekend ☺️

It is probably just trying to camouflage. :good:

I am useless at plec ID I'm afraid

To go back to Adorabelle's post:

A list of which fish you have would help.
Are there any live plants in the tank - the one in the photo looks plastic.

Water changes should be at least 50% a week unless the tank is very lightly stocked. Most people with a tank this size use a hosepipe to drain and refill the tank - if you have a combi boiler you can use a mix of hot and cold water to get the new water to the right temperature.
Nitrate should be kept below 20 ppm though drinking water legislation allows up to 50ppm and some places have almost this level in tap water which makes keeping tank nitrate below 20 ppm difficult.

Once we have all the answers to the questions, including the water conditions and parameters and fish list, that will help us.

That makes me feel better! Thanks! Will definitely still get the wood this weekend though!
It will definitely appreciate the wood, trust me. Mine spends 90% of its time on the two pieces I have in my tank. :fish:
