i've got a male and female pair of bristlenoses, both about 2 1/2" long but discernably different - the male is (i believe) an l059 white-seam bristlenose, the female i am unsure about the exact type, she was just sold as a BN. Shes discernably darker than the male, and lacking the white spots that he has all over. My question is are they likely to breed/be able to breed if they so decide? I am assuming so, both being part of the same family, but just wanted to see if anyone had a more educated opinion? cheers!!

good question... I'm not sure they will... but i'd be looking for a female white seam

lovely looking plec!

does the female look like this??

If so then its probubly a common or a Temmincki.

no, the female is more uniformly brown overall with no white markings as such, just mottled darker brown patches. Shes also a lot braver than he is, he tends to hide in his log-cave when i'm in the room
They have a few more white seams in the shop where i got mine, might look at moving everyone round a bit and trying to accomodate another female perhaps, as they have more white seams where i got mine... :D

nope i'm in devon but the shop does mail order if you wanted one sent up to you, its a shop called fins and things in a place called bovey tracy - www.finsandthings.co.uk

oh oh - just outside kingsteighton!!

I have friends and relatives there....

(AndyJ on here infact!)

How much are they?

me you mean !! ;) :D :D

lol

Might have to pop in there over the next couple of days and have a look around. Didn't even realise that there was an LFS in Bovey !! :fun:

Promise I won't buy allll of the White Seams.... just a couple... ;) ;)

Where about's in Devon are you from mate?

Andy

i live in paignton, but work in chudleigh so only a short drive from Bovey, dangerous when i have an hours lunch break a day to kill!!! The shops just past the teapot factory at the end of Bovey Straights. The white seams are no more than 4 quid i think - mines not quite as dark as those pics

:D :kana: :kana:

I now own 3 of these :)

OK so i havent even seen them or paid for them... But

Andyj just bought 1 male and 2 females for me :)

just need to get them up here now :look:

;) ;)

Chris, if you haven't already got your extra female, I'd get down to the shop first thing in the morning, because the guy said that he's got a wholesale order for 10, so any that aren't sold by tomorrow morning (3 left) will all be going to that order !! ;)

Superb set-up they've got down there, think I know where I'll be buying all of my fish from, from now on ;) ;)

Russ,

Have tried to get some piccies, but my sister's digi cam is pants !!! Will try again later if I see the BN's out and about in the tank.
