Bristle nose pleco issues

Hi,

We have adopted a tank with several fish only days ago. I have noticed that the bristlenose plecos scales do not look normal, he tends to rest behind the heater so worried this is repeated burns. Any advice please?

Hard to tell, but from what I understood, they don't really have scales in the traditional sense. I've read it referred to an armor before. Mine looks like layered armor vs what scales look like. If that makes sense.

Personally I think it could be it is stress related. Give it some wood or a cave to hide in (and some fresh vegs to eat at night)
