Whats can i use to make a cave for my breeding bristle noses as they tried laying in tje external filter outlet bt got pushed off by water flow

ok well bn normaly breed in tubes if you want to make a can buy a coconut from ur nearst supermarket and split it in half scoop out the flesh and drain the milk then you have 2 caves :)

slate caves.

Gets some pieces of slate (garden center is a good place), split them into smaller, thinner pieces with a hammer and chisle. Make square or traingular caves from them by fixing with aquarium sealant (few pounds from LFS or eBay).

voila! a happy little home for the BNs

I have just read a thread about elsewhere about someone using the shin bone of a cow.

Slate is easiest I would say, can't see coconut being the right shape, needs to be a tight fit.

Edit you can buy them as well, check eBay or the link below

Another edit, seems TFF won't let me link to an aquatic retailer, way to go.

Google rare aquatics, based in Cheshire, look at their online shop

Thanks for the help going to get sme sealent from my lfs and will try one myself

Is there any thing else id have to do to the cocunut like wash in hot water or make a hole for them to get in out or just prop it up against the drift wood with works better sorry for all the questions

I don't think they'd use a cocunut personally. They like a nice flat ruface to lie/stick to....and the inside of a cocunut doesn't provide it.

Since I made slate caves for my male, that's wheere he spends 90% of the time. Had no interest in a cocunut cave I used to have in there.

check eBay for slate caves, very cheap and will save the hassle of having to do it yourself (lazy choice) also terra cotta pots work, just cut the bottom out.

Terra cotta caves work, pvc caves work, wood caves work, slate caves work, bamboo caves work. I know as my bn have spawned in any and all of them. Heck I have even had them spawn inside a sponge filter....
