Brick Coloured Spots ... What's Up With That?

Hi guys,
My tank has developed a redish-brown coating (on leaves it looks almost like a dusting) on the gravel and leaves, anyone ever seen this before? Any advice on what should be done?

how long has the tank been set up?
I'm assuming it is relativly new and what you are seeing is diatoms (brown algae)
this is caused by lack of light and can be cured by increasing the light levels. Either add more light or keep the existing light on for longer periods.

or you can just wait it out, it should dissapear in a week or so on it's own.

Thanks, my tank has been up for about a month and a half. It has been going on for more than a week though but it does seem to be getting better
