Breeding plecos

Once you set the mood, dim the lights and the wine is sufficiently chilled make sure you have an opposite sexed pair.

Now that your setup is complete, take some time to kick back and read this book:

Of course, suprisingly, there are a few people that don't have a copy of this handy little guide laying around the house. If you are one of those, you can buy a new or *ahem* used one right here: Amazon .

Of course, there are a few oddballs out there that wont go to the trouble of buying the book. If that is the case here, I suggest looking into these sites:

Bristle Breeding

Info on Bristle Breeding

Breeding Panaque... blue eyed plecos

And here... I dont know what page this is, but it has a picture of a Pleco on it:

I dunno, but click on the pic to enlarge.

And this concludes my blathering for the day.

I'd second dolphins suggestion. Visit Planet Catfish and check out all the breeding articles. If you're referring to the 'Common Plec' (Which can be a number of species, Liposarcus, Hypostomus etc) then it really is quite impossible within the confines of an aquarium. These South American catfish are farmed in huge pools by the thousands in the far east for the trade. If you wanted to breed anything go for the Bristlenoses mentioned above and/or Peckoltia/Hypancistrus species. These need smaller setups and the breeding is outlined in the Planet Catfish articles. They are also much more desirable and sought after in the hobby so moving on the youngsters would be no trouble at all. B)
