Breeding Please Help!

Hi,

i have come home to eggs from my corys! i want unexpecting this. I can see marks where loads were layed but have been eaten 5 were left and i saved them. I figured i sparked them breeding due to doing a water change the night before and i only used cold water.

What i have done from reading on various sites is set up a 12.5gallon tank with an air pump and heather with the eggs in. the tank is completley bare with just the eggs in. I think 4 of the eggs are fertile but im not too sure. the 4 eggs are looking beige with a brown dot sort of thing in the middle. with 1 looking just white. I have but methelyn blue into the tank to prevent fungus and i would like to know if im doing everything correctly, and whether there is anything else i have to do. Also when will they hatch and what do i feed them on?

congrats on the eggs if they are beige in coulor they are fertile
i prefaire to hatch my eggs in containers, but the tank there in is as good uv done everything right
they should hatch withing 3-5 days, bbs and microw worms are the best foods but u can use liqifry no1 and hikari fist bites if you carnt get any good luck with them

Sorry to add a question to this, but I was wondering if anyone has posted pics of Cory eggs after each day of being laid, so that those of us who have not yet managed to get any fry can see what we should be looking for and what temps work best with Cory eggs etc etc.

so glad im doing everything right ill try head to the lfs tomorow or wednesday and see what they have

It's a real rush, isn't it?

Wait till their egg sacks are used up before you start feeding them and feed them sparingly but often. I clean up any left over food then next morning before I start the feeding for that day. I know they say you should clean up after 1 hour but if you don't give them too much to begin with and the tanks not over crowded (5 eggs in a 12.5 gallon is awesome) then you should be ok.

You may also want to invest in a sponge filter. If you look at the diy section of the forums theres a great post on how to make one yourself.

I clean up the tank using an air hose as a siphon into a white bucket and I THOROUGHLY CHECK THE BUCKET'S CONTENTS before I dump out the water.

As for taking daily pictures of eggs for comparison, it depends on the species of Cory as they can be different.

yeah i already have a little sponge filter a fluval 2 i think? lol.

well it isnt seeming that hard now! and yeh i will check the bucket! and ill try to take regular pictures the waters abit blue at the moment so i cant take any more pictures

Well if you ask me nice and also ask my corys to be co-operative I'd be happy to take some pictures. Mine are C. Napoensis. Their eggs hatch about 2-3 days after being laid so I'm not sure how much information you'll get from the pictures. All I have from their last spawn is same day pictures.

Right now I'm going (have gone, I hope) through a crisis with my tanks but I'm hopeful that they'll start up again in a week or so; they're a bit overdue.

yeah will be quite intresting seeing them on a pic from when there laid to them hatching every couple of hours ,and even better if anyone can do a video and speed it up id love to see them develop inside the egg like this
