I unfortunately lost my male German Blue Ram yesterday to what seems to be Hole in the Head disease (not confirmed but the only thing I can think of) he was part of a breeding pair.
Now that my female is on her own, her colours are extremely dull. She is swimming about and eating as normal, but you can tell she is not herself.
I am a bit unsure as to what to do, I would be prepared to get another male, but what are the chances that she will get on with him? Will she be ok on her own, or will she die?
What actually happens when a fish from a breeding pair is left behind?
So gutted about my male I did everything I could to keep him alive but he just suddenly gave up the ghost.
