Hi i have a 2 clownfish, which ived had for about 3-4 weeks. They werent brought as a pair, but one seems to have grown a lot (i assume is now female) an the others pretty much the same size (male?). Theyve also been doing the whole biting then shaking loads thing, which scared me at first then i realised the were just aquating themselves to each other lol. I know it takes them a while to reach maturity, so a long wait yet, but does anyone have any experince/info or mabye reccomend books to help me :) also, i was thinking of mabye breeding gobys and would be grateful for info/experinces with that

thanks

Havnt had any experience in breeding either of those fish (hoping to set up marine breeding tanks in th future though). However, I did have lots of success in breeding bangaii cadinals. They are a great begginners breeder, and since the young are spat out at a decent size, it makes raising them much easier as they have grown enough to take baby brine shirmp which are very easy to cultivate.

Don't worry. It was the same with me and my girlfriend.

yer, i looked in to cardinals, the thing with them is you have to make sure to buy a male and fenale right? you cant just go buy any two, like with clowns.

do you have any further info on breeding the cardinals, it would be appreciated :)

James

I'm not sure if cardinals can change sex like clowns, maybe I was just lucky enough to get a male and female.

I am currently working on a piece of writing which tells of my breeding experieces with cardinals. I shall send it to you once im done. :good:

it could take several years for them to decide they want to start spawning. Usually helps if they live in a tank with their naturals host anenome. Whcih means you have to make usre your tank is suitable as anenomes arent easy. Rearing they fry is another challenge too been as they only take live food for the first bit.

Hey there! I'm actually currently in the process of breeding/raising the fry for my clownfish! As stated, it can take years for them to breed (I have had mine for 2.5 years before they started to spawn). When that time comes, you'll need to do lots and lots of research.

I have a breeding dairy ongoing here: (I will be updating it shortly): http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=307299

I'll gladly answer any questions.

Yer thanks, the clownfish are doing great :) as i described earlier, i think their forming a pair :good: . I took me a while to get them feeding, as they refused the flake, and then i ran out of live brineshrimp, but finally got them to accept frozen brine an mysis shrimp, which i feed on allternate days (brine on monday, mysis on tuesday etc..) :good: I will probs update my journel soon, when i get round to it. They live happily with 3 hermits, 2 snails, and a blood shrimp who just shed his shell for the first time today.I plan to get either a hammer or frogspawn coral for them instead of an anonome as i hear they are hard to keep :good:

Seffie, I will post it in fish of the week. Will be a few days before I get it done though :good:
