well ive kinda decided to start breeding ghost shrimp...no reason...just to breed them for fun but i was wondering on tank size(if a 1gallon will be okay for a hatchery) lighting, good plants, and i dont have any 1gal filters so what about a bubble stone? i got lots of those :p ...an food(something cheap...like tetramin grounded up into a fine powder...will that work?) i need all the help i can get by friday or saturday. as thats the day im going to the lfs

I don't know what would be a good size tank. I think 1gal tank would be kind of small, but my 3gal is stuffed w/ Java Moss (even at warm temps around 80F, a little goes a long way w/ only 6 hrs of flourescent light per day, as I am finding out). Without the moss I could have more than the 4 adult ghosts I've got in there, but the shrimp seem to be doing well with something like that moss to roam all over.

My other 3gal tank seems way too huge for the dozen juvenile ghosts, but that will change as they slowly get bigger.

I'm eyeballing one of my 10 gallon tanks to use as a shrimpery.

If you've got kids, get them involved. It makes for some pretty good fun for the family.

Try this link: seems pretty helpful. Wish I'd read it before starting my effort at raising these little guys.
