Cherry Barbs are great!

the way i've bred egg scatterers before is used a bare bottom tank, placed some plastic canvas (the type used for sewing patterns and stuff, you can buy from hobbycraft) about one inch off the bottom a ball of green wool to make a spawning mop then seperated the males and females for a couple of days, the morning after they are reunited they have usually laid eggs. once you see the eggs remove the parents, gauze and mop wait for the eggs to hatch. a couple of days later you will usually see tiny worm like things stuck to the glass along the bottom and corners... hey presto you have fry :good:

thanks guy for your replies you have given me a good idea as to what to set up the tank like.
How do you care for the fry once they are free swimming?

What food to give them etc?

Thanks again :)

I have seen a product from JBL called artemio which you can use to grow brine shrimp. It looks pretty intuitive but I have never used one.

For the infusoria, have a look at the pinned topics under the killifish subforum. For hatching brineshrimp, you have to buy the eggs first, then put them with salt and an aerator in water, and collect them 24 hrs afterwards.

Maybe you can find also on the killifish subforum a model for a brineshrimp hatcher made from a soda bottle.
