Breeding Angels

Thank you.

Well I lost a bunch to my filter intake being too close to the glass so they got caught between the sponge covering the intake and the glass. I fixed that and don't seem to have caught any more. I did a wc last night saw I lost about 5 more :( . But the rest are good. So We will see. I know they can't all make it.

looks like I have maybe 60 left. Seems like every time I do a WC I kill a few. Here is a cool photo of one going for a baby brine shrimp.

If I get 10 to live to an inch that would be cool. Last time I raised fry they were cory cats and Only 2 lived in the end. Its really hard to raise fry I don't care what others say.

amazing photos!

im thining of starting up fishkeeping again, are angelfish easy to breed? have you done anything special to 'induce' them lol

i would have a 135litre tank, and maybe down the line another 4ft tank

I got lucky with these guy. Seems they breed like bunnys. Mine are good parents too and never eat the eggs where I hear some do its common. Getting them to spawn easy raising the fry thats another story.

I have lost more then half of my fry and Iam not sure why. seem like anything kills these guys. too much water movement during a wc kills them, too much water temp change kills them, too strong of a filter kills them, too much food and too little food kills them. Its hard to keeps these guys alive or I just suck at raising fry and that could be part of it.

with my lionhead cichlids it was the other way around. i always had to remove the female once they were freeswimming as such.

I lost them all a few days ago. I think the frozen brine shrimp I used might be to blame. Because when I had my Cory fry once I stoped useing the frozen shrimp I saw less death. I just stink at trying to raise fry and I think I give up. I messed up the parents perfect relationship. They no longer act like a pair. They don't beat eachother up but the love is gone. So all and all it was pretty sad.

I hope the parents can learn to love again.

Ackk. So sorry about that. I suppose if they aren't fighting they will come back together. My spawning pair are getting more aggressive with each other but still a pair. The other two, hang out together but no spawning action. I imagine there is much to do to raising the little fry. Sounds like lots of work and a challenge. You are a great fishkeeper, just need to keep being curious and trying. Don't give up.

k
