I want a small cheap set up for breading Mollies, guppies, Sword tails ect, and i have a few questions,

Will these specien interbreed :)

Whats the minimum size would you recomend? and do you have any links to somethign cheap?

And in my first tannk i had some bright Orange fish, that were livebearers, they were kinda like mollix but had rounded tials, What are they called? (if someone says round tailed mollies im gonna look so stupid!)

Edit: Its ok.... There were platy's :)

im not sure if they will interbreed but i would think these fish would be great in a tank 90l plus, depends really on how many parent fish your going to have and how many babies you want to keep.

i had four mollies in my 30l tank at one point and i got about ten babies out of them which i gave to my mum to put in her 70l tank

Well i have a 100l Tankl at the min but it would seem over stocked, i have another 100l+ tank in mind, So a 30L just for breading would be good.

I doubt it. They are from a different genera and according to John Rundle (clever fish guy) the males' gonopodia is very different. The Swords and Platies will breed though.

The minimum for guppies would probably be a 10g, but Swords and Mollies require more room apparently.

Check out:

Livebearers - FAQ, Topics And Guides, Links and index in here

if your interested in livebearers. Bear in mind you'll probably get a lot of fry.

Hope that helps

Swords and platies will interbreed. Mollies and guppies can interbreed but do not often do so (there is a thread in the hybrids forum). Neither mollies nor guppies can interbreed with either platies or swordtails.

Ooo i didnt know that, its interesting though.

Mollies can interbreed. but, only one species each because there are none that are the same kind as them so they will pick some fish else. the minimum size tank should be atleast 30 gallons for all Guppy, Molly, Playty and Swordtail
