i just got a new brain coral saturday, which has been doing fine. this afternoon/evening though, i have noticed that it has a slime on it. we do have snails that i have seen get slime on other things but i was wondering if i should take it off of the brain coral because it seems to be closed or soemthing.

well, if its doesnt have a color to it, its probably because the coral is stressed or it has been handled and is releasing some of its zooxanthellae symbiotic algae. if it feels like snot, and its clear, then you got nothing to worry about and its not from your snails

Does it look anything like this?

If so that's a dreaded immune response known as "brown jelly infection". Usually the only way to save the coral is by fragging or cutting away the good parts from the infected. This is what my brain looked like after cutting

ski-its not like that. i was actually just looking at it now and it looks like it grew smaller but has opened. is this okay?

Closed brains, in particular, platygyra or brain worm, can normally secrete a lot of mucus when handled or first introduced. They CAN tho', have what Ski mentioned above. Digital pictures are invaluable when keeping a marine tank.

If it doesn't look like what I posted, you're probably fine, just a stress response from introduction. keep an eye on it and post pics if possible.
