Bought A Tank Today

very nice vase. I have some nice pink roses that would look great in there

I don't think he realizes...nor cares...that the tank is incredibly small and no-where near suited for even a single green spotted puffer.

I would agree snooks hes already posted the same question under different topic and been told that something this size is no good, has also changed his mind from looking at trying to have a puffer in a 1 Gallon "box" to 1Gallon SALT WATER "box" with a clown fish in it, to a 1 Gallon box with a betta in to this new tank with 4 ??? GSP's. i dont think he is illing to accept advise or do research into what requirements different fish have,

tho i can see he has taken on some advice based on what he had been looking to put a puffer in THIS In THIS THREAD

he then considered THIS From the same thread, And he has taken on the information that you cannt keep a clown fish in a 1 Gallon SW set up.

to then look at putting a betta into the 1st "box" shown above.

Sean W i would seariosly suggest you look at what fish you like then do research on that fish to see its requirements, not just asking a lfs if it will fit. but going online google the fish read about it get some books and see what it does need.

P.s I will appologise to all for my spelling, just finished a 14hr shift and its 08:45 here and cant be bothered to run the spell check lol.

Alright alright, you guys are the experts, through my stubbornness, i went ahead and bought a GSP.
HOWEVER, i am currently taking steps into getting a 30+ gallon tank with a filtration system for a 60 gallon tank.
as far as scotty said... i don't know where clown fish came from, i never said anything about a clown fish.. so go figure..

and along with the 30 gallon tank im going to be getting, probably by monday, ill be buying many decorations to keep the fish entertained ( rocks, caves, plants what ever ), until i get my 30 gallon tank, il only have one GSP, and ill only go to 3 tops once i get the bigger tank, but probably just 2 to be safe, i have its diet squared away, i have been doing a ridiculous, religious " on my phone on the internet during class reading " research. i realize now.... that i was wrong, a 2 gallon tank is ridiculous.
and once i have it for about 6 months ill slowly start switching it over to brackish water....

.... I just wanted a puffer fish so badly, i didn't want to accept what any of you said saying that my set up would not suffice to own one, let alone a happy one.

The Reference to a clownfish was..........
could you have a small 1 gallon desktop salt water tank for like, one clown fish?

i don't think so, but just wondering what you guys have to say.. i don't know nothin bout' no salt water tanks.. so if this is possible i have a lot of learning to do.

From THIS TOPIC POST
Its good to see that you are reading up and going to upgrade the tank asap to move the GSP but remember the new tank needs to be cycled, not so bad if you already have filter media to use for this as the media from the 2G may not be too good to use as doner media, do you have any space at all in your comunity tank that you could section part of it off to put the GSP into until the new tank has cycled ??

mmmm ya.. our community tank is a big ol' 50 gallon...

but we keep the PH level low on that tank, at around 4 or 5, GSp need 7 or so....

Mmmm im not too sure myself there, on the PH side of things i couldnt say what effect the lowerph will have on the GSP. im guessing that the fish in the comunity wouldnt be tollerant to upping the ph which could throw the whole tank out of ballance. hopefully a rew of the guys that know their stuff on GSP's will be able to advise on this.

perhaps..... GSP isnt my fish.. i have been doing just as much research on dwarf puffers... in so many words, they are much more suited for my tank... i could have 2 dwarf puffers, in this tank, they never get bigger then just over an inch, and they are just as interesting...hmm

you couldnt even have one dwarf puffer in a tank that small... im sure you've been told that already

either get a dwarf frog, some shrimp, a betta or some snails. Or some little, floating plastic fish.

The tank looks great. Most of us have done it! Bought a small tank and within weeks realised we need much bigger. Goes with the hobby! I have a small one I use for neon tetras and fantail guppies with a couple of corys. Then went to a 125 ltr. as well and now added a 260 ltr. If you search carefully and really inspect a second hand tank there are some real bargains out there. Do ebay search to your postcode. Much better value. All three of mine were second hand and never paid more than a hundred for good juwel tanks with all the bits. The little one a lot less! BUT CHECK FOR LEAKS AND GLASS COND>
Enjoy your puffers!! (When your larger tank is OK)!
