Bought A New Tank! Bargain!

My lfs puts plants in a fish bag and seal them up with some air inside. I've left them in there like that for over an hour and they've been fine.

Plants would be fine in a wet fish bag for the journey I would think.

I would also remove the sand before you try to lift the tank, last thing you want is undue strain and a crack (in you or the tank).

I used this tip with good quick results, just put the sand in a bucket.

Plants that I buy online come in a ziploc bag with a tiny bit of water, and that's for a few days in shipping.... You can just pop them in a bag short term. Cut the roots to an inch or so to promote growth and replant at home

cheaper to gloss black paint the back, get a much better finish than a background that always gets condensation in between it and the glass

Na I use a liquid goop (can't remember the name, I'm not at home to look) to seal the background to the tank. No bubbles, no condensation - sorted!

Ugghhhh well if it's too good to be true.....

I've got the tank - it's. a. mess and the bottom trim has all fallen off - these are both easily fixed. What's made me mad is the lighting unit had obviously broken at some point and they have just rigged some interpet bulb onto the unit with zip ties - oh and they destroyed the unit to make this work. The cheapest I can find a new light unit is £73. Are there any words of wisdom from the Fish Forum sages?

To be honest it definitely would not pass a health and safety inspection haha! It looks really dodgy I just don't want to use it

I have to have things done "properly" so it's got to be an actual juwel lighting unit for me!
