What is he?

He looks alike a SD to me but don't quote me on it... but his dorsal fin is either crown, or extremely shredded... Did he come to you like that?

Someone else could probably give you a better idea but to me it looks like he has been fin nipped a lot by the other fish.

He is looking better than he did i have only had him for 2 days he was in a tank with loads of other fish in the shop and a verysmall tank. he was really colourless but now i can see he has green blue red and black.

Sorry Hayley maybe I wasnt clear. I meant did his fins look like that when you bought him, or have they gone like that?

I am 99% sure his dorsal fin is shredded. This may have been from the guppies he was in the tank with, or your angels here. He needs to be dosed with some melafix to sort him out. You really need to keep a close eye on them, and make sure he isnt taking any more damage. They may look nice together, but you have no idea whats happening when your back is turned, and that dorsal fin is, quite frankly, in a terrible state. I got a betta from a LFS with awfully shredded fins, but his dorsal fin wasnt as bad as that.

Hi yes he was worse than that when i got him.. i have some melafix so i will put some in now. i will keep an eye on them. i have another tank he can go in if anything happens.

Hi Heyley, You`ve got one gorgeous betta there With help of melafix his fins will get better in no time, but I would advice you to put him in another tank asap. You said you have spare tank for him, so IMO better safe then sorry. Angels are not good companions for him. Cory catfish would be much better choice. Hope all goes well for you
