Bottom Feeder / Algae Eaters

Noooo! The Chinese algae eater only eats algae when young. As it gets larger, it shows a preference for the body slime on other fish, if you get one smart enough to figure it out. The not smart one will just sit, get large, get ugly and watch the algae grow.

The first question I have is about the room the tank is in. Is there a lot of sunlight?
I wondered how long it would take to fish somebody in. Don’t you guys know me yet ?

@powerdyne6 that looks more like diatoms, but there is one more test...using your fingertips, can you easily remove all this from the plant leaves?

Yes this stuff is easily removed with my fingers or even hovering the gravel vac above

OK. Previous suggestion remains, do a good vacuum into the substrate at water changes, the open areas, do not go under rock/stone/decor or around plants rooted in the substrate. This will clear up, or should anyway, but reducing its food source will help.

Thankyou

It has been about 4 days of lowered light intensity and duration and the algae hasn’t gotten any worse.

I did my weekly water change today removed most (if not all) from my plants and did a good substrate vacuum.

I will let it be for another week and see how things go. Fingers crossed that I have found a good balance between light intensity, duration and nutrients

Back to the fish question.
A blue eyed lemon pleco, doesn't get too big and are sooo cute! Mine is still a juvenile, if he grows up to be ugly I will still love him, but I'm sure he won't.
Has a lot of personality too.
When hungry or wanting something different to what is on offer, he will come to the front of the tank and stare at me, and change positions relative to where I am. Never had a fish try and boss me around!
