Last night i suddenly realised that there are bolivian ram fry in the tank. the pair started making a nest a few days ago now but previous attempts at raising fry ended up with them eating them at the egg stage. Unfortunatly they have no decided they want the babies and have waited until i got rid of my small tank to have them!! at first i thought they were just eggs but on closer examination there are definatly wriggly things in the nest. I have no idea what to do and if they will survive! Other tank mates include corys, male betta, silver tipped tetra's and a few harlequin rasboras.

I have a few questions
Will they be ok in the tank with the other fish?
What do i feed them on and how do i ensure they get that food and not the other fish?
what do i do with them if they live and grow up??? I dont have the space for them

sorry to be a novice, i just didnt expect them to have any babies! or atleast not eat them lol

i would pay for one off you if you manage to raise one or two im sure your lfs would too

the parents should do a good job protecting them from the other fish, although your tetras and rasboras might pick off a few

the only thing that they will eat will be baby brine shrimp or microworms. You can hatch the baby brine shrimp yourself and then use a turkey baster or something along those lines to shoot the bbs close to the fry for them to eat. Unfortunately if you dont feed them live food, they wont know to eat anything else.

Hi they should be fine in the tank parents should take care of them

my kribs had fry last sunday and i feed them on liquifry - i just take pinch of it and put my hand in the tank and spread it above the fry - this way current do not take it away - i do that twice a day fry seems to grow.

sell them on forum or go to to lfs. i can have 3 of them from you :) I need 1 female and 2 males

Regards
Bart

liquifry will be good for maybe the first week but if you want any to survive you're going to want to hatch some baby brine shrimp

thanx guys, i shall get some liquifry for the first week then look at some live food! hopefully they'll survive and i'll let those of you who are interested know about homing some of them

just a quick update they are now free swimming and it is the wierdest thing ive ever seen! it looks like theres loads of sperm in the tank lol!

we can certainly try and get some pics later, if theres any decent ones i'll upload them :)
