Hi, i have purchased some bogwood from my lfs, never used it before and havew followed some advice fom various sources, soaked it in boiling water etc......

Its been in a bucket for 24 hours and ive just checked the water, there is no colouration whatsoever. Ive just put it in my sink and used boiling hto water to try and get something to come out lol! anyway, it does not seem to be leaking anything.

I believe the wood has been kept outside at the lfs, do you think it could have lost its tanins through rain?
Should i stick it in my tank?

Thanks.

Sounds fine to add to the tank as you have boiled it, some tannins will leach out though but it will add a nice colour to the water.
It may of not leached much over night, but I'm sure it will in the next 2 weeks, if you dont like it just do weekly water changes as usual and this will clear over time.

Thanks, so it wont stain anything permanently then i assume?

no it's not a problem unless you dont like the colour of the water

Mine takes a couple weeks to change the water color, but i've been doing weekly water changes for a while now so the water is always clear.
