Bog Wood

My original bit I got from local aquatics shop keeps going white and slimey now, I have just poured boiled water on it again and scrubbed and back in tank.....apparently it’s a common event for new wood for tank

Thanks for the heads up, I will keep my eye out for it and not panic if it does that then ?
 
This person says not to put boiling water on it as you are cleaning it and giving the bacteria clean space to start breeding again

Aha.......ok my bad thanks for pointing this out will just scrub clean next time and chuck it back in
 
The bog wood is in (12 days soaking and covering in boiling water in the sink every few days)....might need to do some more re arranging of rest of the tank, I will leave it for now and see how the fish like it there.
Fingers crossed water doesn't go to brown ???? one step closer to getting my gorgeous little pleco ?

Thanks.....I need some help...my nitrite has spiked, im panicking. Would the bogwood effect this? I've just done a 50% water change and will re check the levels and will do another 50% tomorrow....
