i spend more time on this forum then either 1 - working, or 2 doing other things that im supposed to lol

question on bog wood, it seems expensive at most places ive been to so far, does anyone know anywhere on ebay or the internet that is good for bogwood cheap as possible

and same question for live plants as my LFS doesnt have a big choice on plants

im not sure about the bogwood, wherever i look that seems to be expensive :sly:
but i usually use www.plantsalive.co.uk for my live plants :) they seem pretty good to me and not as expensive as other sites, and the plants have always arrived looking very healthy whenever i've brought some :)
you could also try http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/ a bit more pricey though and dont always have such a wide selection due to their stocking but good none the less :)

I appreciate it is a bit of a hike, but Downtown in Grantham has an Aquatic Centre that seems to sell bogwood much cheaper than anywhere else I've seen. I was very tempted to buy 90cm long 50cm high full width piece for my tank because it was only 60 quid, but ended up getting two smaller bits for 15 quids each. When I say smaller, they were both big pieces of wood. They have been in my tanks for two months now and the tannins have just cleared

What do u call expensive pets at home are doing it for £5.99 a piece or buy 2 get 1 free couldn't beat that on the net with postage and then it wouldn't have fit through letterbox

ill be going through grantham in a few weeks anyway (trip to skeg vegas lol) and also visiting again soon to watch my local football team play grantham so plenty of chances to get there and pay the place a visit.

travellings not an issue to me, normally go out on a sunday for a drive out to kill a few hours anyway.

as fro pets at home I wasnt sure after reading what people had said on other threads weather it was a good idea to buy from there or not ??

Hard to go wrong with bogwood though - what kind of after-sales care are you hoping for?!

LOL could you imagine the staff faces taking your bogwood back in a tied bag of water because its leached tanins and attacked a guppy :hyper:

Seriously though u only end up reading bad reviews on forums not many go on and praise them when they've had a good experience - i say try anywhere once on your own merit or your missing out.

I would say P@H are ok if you want small pieces, they don't seem to any decent sized chunks, Downtown do small to mahoosive for a very good price. Depends what you want, but worth a look if you want some big chunks, or intricate pieces. They also do Mopani

The trouble is with buying bogwood online, even if it's cheap, you'll end up paying high postage costs for its size and weight.

Just to gauge what size we are talking about, this image is from the my tank before heavy planting. These two pieces cost £15 each and there were alot of lumps far bigger and more intricate than these

got my large chunk from P@H ... soaked it in boiling water a few times before adding it to the tank. I think it cost about a fiver. My Dad went the following week and it was on offer and got 3 bits for about 7 quid. It's just livestock I refuse to buy there. Anything else is okay :)
