Bobtastic's 240l Planted Tank Journal

what's the plant in the back drop? it also seems to be doing well.

also the Pogostemon helferi looks really tall! I have had a couple of these in my older tank and they never got as tall as that they all seemed to stay around the same size as the others. Perhaps its a mother plant?

That is Micranthemum umbrosum, it is growing be seems a little leggier than it should be...

I think that P helferi is more a devil plant, than mother. Ceg on UKAPS says that I can chop it off and re-plant the top, which I'll probably do after the next clean up.

You know, when I look at your tank now, perhaps a increase in plant mass wouldn't be a bad idea? It does seem rather sparse to me. You should see how dense I plant when I first start a tank. I will often cover close to 75% of the substrate.

Yeah, I went about the setup in a bit by bit style, which has lead to most of my problems. But I don't want to spend the money of the plant for them to died. The guys at UKAPS are suggesting that it's a combination of Co2 and flow or the lack of Co2 distribution around the tank.

That would be my guess as well. But additional plant mass would not hurt.

So! Not a massive change in the tank, but I have added another powerhead to the front to right corner. I have also added a AquaMedic 1000 Co2 reactor, to ensure that I get maximum Co2 dissolved into the water. I'll have some more pictures up if I can remember to take some!
