hi all

how comes my BN male isnt eatin??

he hasnt left his cave for a few hours but im pritty shaw he isnt with eggs because i did a big clean out on the tank 2day and the pot was epty

there are two females that hang out around the other side of the tank

y do u think he isnt eating he normally comes straight out when i put some cucumber in his tank?

thanx

just because there werent any eggs 2 days ago doesnt mean that theyre arent now. and just because he hasnt came out of his cave for a few hours doesnt meith him. plecos are nocturnal, and many people dont see theirs untill night.

but my male BN is normally always out even though everyones always saying they hide mine doesnt normaly buti still dont think there are eggs in there

but i dont want to check in case i stress him out

Just keep any eye on him for a few days, he's probabbly been eating after light out, he won't starve after a few days anyway.

Let us know if you do get babies.

hi all

i was just wondering wen the BN eggs hatch will the mum or dad eat the young??

also what temp is most peeps tanks at wen u breed ure BNs

thanx

they might have problems with the first couple of batches they have, like they might eat the eggs, or push them out into the tank etc, but they learn rather quickly tbh.

thanx TwoTankAmin

1 of my females has started to hang aroung out side the males cave do u think she could be ready to breed she looks quit plump??

normally she stays at the other end of the tank but now she stays near the males cave

thanx

there is a good chance of breeding as you have 2 females and 1 male. How big is his cave? I noticed my golden bristlie male was guarding eggs when I looked in his barnacle and he appeared to have a humped back so I looked closer and saw lots of eggs :D

the cave is a small flower pot

the male keeps coming out of it to use the wood then the female would quickly pop inside the cave

do u think she is checking to see if it is ok for her to lay her eggs in??

afeter she looks in it she then goes around the back

hi

i just read that BNs wont breed till 4" is this true??

thanx
nope.

ours were at it from about 2.5" (female) and 3" (male)

Its a hard call on the male / female ratio for bristle noses... the male will not eats for 2 weeks at a tme while he is looking after the eggs/fry. if when he's done with one batch the other female is ready to drop - He'll end up starving (and if he needs to he'll eat the eggs)

ok thanx

today ive noticed the female hanging around the cave alot

also ive noticed that my male has gone a bright yellowy colour normally he is a dark colour could somthink be wrong or is it somthink to do with breeding??

thanx
