Iv'e had my BN pleco in my 65G tank for about 6 months now and hes always been a good eater from the day i got him.... he loves his pellets, cukes, and sweet potatoe is his all time fav. i toss a chunk in and he hangs on it and eats it for a cpl days almost 24/7 i find him on that thing...

now i re did my tank last friday with a bunch of live plants and a brand new chunk of wood for him(got him a bigger peice to hang about on and eat) i also took away his cave because this new wood was suppose to replace it and that big cave didnt really suit my tank no more... it has a cpl cave areas that i thought he might like...

i killed off most of my fish(6 blackskirts 6 rainbows 8 zebra danios) with a batch of columninaris the day after i planted it up.. leaving only my plec and a gold gourami

looks wise he looks perfectly fine but all hes been doing is resting on his old peice of wood and sometimes i find him near the top hangin on the glass under the filter pipes( my old clown pleco did this alot before he died) he doesnt even go near his new peice.

he looks really depressed, he wont eat the pellets even if i put them close to him... and he wont touch his fav sweet potatoe even if i place it on his wood....

could he be ill from the columninaris but just not show any symptoms... he might just be mad/depressed because i took his cave away, he loved to sleep in there but would still come out during the day, especially if he had his sweet potatoe out to munch on.

i guess ill put his cave back in tomarrow and see what happens... would hate to loose another fish especially my pleco baby.

it has been a rough fishy week for me, cant stand the thought to loose another fish..

any advise is appreciated.. thanks

I'd try putting the cave back. If you made a lot of changes to the tank, he may be just upset. If he perks up, you know he's not sick...

Hi,

I think the reason he isn't showing much interest in the new wood is because it is new its totally clean and has no algae for him to nibble on.

It sounds like he doesn't appreciate all the changes to the tank and is maybe why he is off his food. Think it might be a good idea to give him his cave back.

Hope he gets back to normal.
