Hi all,
My BN eggs just hatched and i see their tiny little tails wiggling like crazy, quite cute.

Now im wondering how long it will be before they have consumed their yolk sac? Reason for this is that i want to remove them into the fry tank i have waiting for them because i dont want to lose them :D

Sorry to post in this area, but hardly anyone looks in the pleco section.

Regards,
Indir

The male guards the eggs for 7–10 days after hatching. The fry remain in the cave, attaching to the walls and ceiling with their mouths, absorbing their yolk sac in 2–4 days and becoming free swimming.Once they start free-swimming they will have consumed their yolk sac and need feeding. Feed them microworms and/or newly hatched brine shrimp.

Thank you Gilli.

Should i wait for them to be free swimming or should i move them now? To avoid them becoming new fish food.

Also i hear it is a very good idea to keep a lettuce leaf inside the tank for the fry? Replacing every 24 hours along with a small water change. Is this a good idea?

Regards,
Indir
