whilst at a new lfs today (kilburn london)we spotted some unusual fish they were called 'blue tiger barbs' they were a bit like albino tigers except much more 'see-thru' as in you could see all their insides & they had a slight tinge of blue around their fins. they were very strange looking & just want to know is this natural or is it more of those poor painted(injected)fish??? does anyone know??? the same shop also has 'red tailed corys' these were like albino corys except their tails were a weird bright pinky red colour -are these natural??? they looked a bit odd the red colour was a very unnatural shade of cerise. just like to know before i go accusing the owner of supporting a horrible parctice(ie: injecting fish)

There is a red tailed catfish, millym. It is hardly an aquarium fish, though. Here is a link:

I cannot find any referrence to a red tailed cory.

I don't like the sound of this; the idea of dyeing any fish is repulsive. I hope you do let the lfs people know your feelings about the matter!

Blue is an un-natural colour in a barb. If colours look unreasonable - then they probably are, sad but true.

thanks
- i may be wrong but they didnt look 'natural' to me. the corys were definately corys(sorry i know that sounds dumb but you know what i mean nothing like the red tailed catfish inchworm- at least that fishes colours looked 'normal') & they had cerise(you know that horrible shade of pink that often turns up in bridesmaid dresses, i know i was made to wear one once :X ) pink bottom thirds of their bodies + fin. didnt look right at all. the poor old tigers looked like weird ghosts that had been dipped in ink for a second or 2. i might be wrong but they dont look like colours that would survive in the wild at all.

Yes, I know that color milly. It's not bad enough that they had to hurt the poor little corys, but they had to go and embarass them too with that stupid color!!!

Where are the PETA people when you need them? (Too buzy spray painting furrier shops, I guess.)
