Blue neon tetras

Hi folks.
Sorry to keep asking but I would like some blue neons. Are they ok with the rest of my fish? (See signature). Also, are they ok in a shoal of about 6 as I would like a pair of gouramis and that will bring me up to max amount I think?

I'm sorry to say but I'm pretty sure your already at the max level of fish. I need some help from the other members but I think you may have to wait until all those fish unfourtunately pass or go out and buy a new bigger tank (which is always fun! ) I hope I helped

In the 11 gallon tank right? You don't have room for any more fish in there. The fish you have at the moment are already too many. If you had a tank that could accomodate them though, you should keep a minimum of 6 neons. Also, I wouldn't add a pair of gouramies. The guppies you have alone are pretty much the maximum your tank should hold.

yeah there's at least 31" of fish in there which even allowing for the fact that the 1" per gallon rule isnt set in stone, is really too much. especially considering one of them is a plec which puts a huge strain on your filter. sorry

No problems, thankx. I was told that this tank could hold 40 fish by my lfs ( what liars eh!!! ) But it's ok because expansion is on the way. Our sitting room has plenty of room for a bigger tank (the husband needs some persuasion) but hey, Christmas is coming, what a perfect present

Good luck in getting your new tank, if you do decide on neons for your new tank, they need a mature tank of 6 months.

I agree with Wilder. Neons are very sensitive so a mature stable tank is a must. Hope the hubbie agrees! My wife wasn't thrilled with my 3rd tank but she's okay with it as long as I don't wreak the rest of the house!!!

try cardinals they are a bit more hardy than neons when you get your new tank

I hate it when lfs mislead people! not your fault though...but you might wanna look for a more reliable one. have fun with your new tank!
