blue lobsters are in da house/tank :D

Hmmm well they both have the litle circles on the 3rd set of legs as you can see from my pictures.

I'ved posted on the crayfish forum and i got a reply saying he though they were cherax quads, i haven't looked up which ones they are yet though!!.

any ideas on what else i can feed them?

I'ved given them live worms, prawns and Hikari Crab Cuisine. I removed 1 of the prawns this morning being a day old I'm not sure if the other got eaten or i just couldn't find it. The devor the worms aslong as i manage to land them near them!!

I'll probable try carrot, cucumber and zucini at some point too.

any thing else they'll nibble on?

Hi there,
this is my first post here, seems to be a great site :) . I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago and he's great. I did make the stupid mistake of not reading up about them first, however at the moment he's been fine with the other fish, and him and the plec seem to have worked out their territory.
I also give mine the green tablets for vegetarian fish - the ones the plec likes, I saw him running over and nicking one off the plec and legging it back to his cave, so now he gets them as well.

Welcome to the forum.

There great litle fellows aren't they!! mine are quite shy so run to hide when i'm aorund then slowly come out again.

I'll try them on ome algae waffers aswell then.

Hi thanks for the welcome :)

Things have changed already since I last posted. I hadn't seen him for a day or so, then today doing the water change etc he came out - it looks like he's shed his shell and the new one is hardening, what was a 2" crayfish is now 3" at least from what I can see, he was also brown earlier, but seems to be getting the blue colour back again - at least to his claws so far. I think I had better keep him well fed from now on, until I can talk my wife into another tank :)

wow a molt after a few weeks

hopefully my crabs will molt soon, i'ved had them for maybe a month now.

Well one of my crayfish is suspiciously dark which alot of people seem to say there's get darker before they molt so hopefully thats the case, then i can chase mum aorund the house with a old shell!!

I bought a load of bloodworm today so tonight they shall feast on them!!

I'm having to drop there food down a tube to the bottom so the fish don't grab it first!!

just served up some live bloodworm and when it came downnear one of them she went mad!!!

reared up on her hind legs to get the first grabs in then shuffled back and stuffed her face!!

hehe, I'll get some of that as well then. He was out this morning and he's definitely molted and has got a lot bigger :hyper:
Can I post pictures here, I can't find the option anywhere ?

Nah mine are both females!! I was thinking of maybe getting another and make sure it's a male!!

would that be a good group to have? 2 females and a male...

oh arse!!! these aussy ones are going to grow to 10" or so and people on the blue cray fish forum are saying that they have shell rot on there tails.

ohhh.

i noticed one of them has dug a litle hollow between 2 rocks, looked very comfy in there at lunch time!!

Sounds like you have it covered. They are scavengers so the will basically chew on anything. :D
