Blue Koi Type Betta!

Look at my lucky find this past weekend! I hope he doesn't change color

He is beautiful but he is a marble.  That means that he will more than likely lose the spotted look but he could keep the white fringe to his fins.

Oh interesting! How do you tell the difference between a koi and a marble?

There are no true "koi" markings for bettas

So do the koi bettas that I come across online eventually lose their multi color pattering?

Yes.  The majority of them are marbles and continue to change color their whole lives.

Actually, its not on the net yet, but apparently recently the first Koi Betta was bred.

 Like the pictures you have done capturing his movement and that Betta sideways look towards you 

 
Wildbetta (as always) is spot on (excuse the pun), you will see your boy change, but that in itself can be an interesting mystery...

The local LFS manager whom we got Oli and Kishi from was from thailand, and was telling us that in thailand they'd bred a true koi coloured betta.
We're waiting for some pictures to arrive by email.
 
He seemed to know what he was talking about - Though obviously I cant claim the information is 100%
 
Apparently the new Koi Betta is VERY expensive though, and currently quite rare
