Blue Gourami

They should be fine together given there is enough room for them to have their own space.

55 gallon tank. Should be enough room right?

That should be fine, they'll have a nice bit of room in a 55 gallon. If there are any problems dither fish such as danios etc can help reduce aggression.

Ooo how do these fish help? I have danios in another tank but I can move them here. Also neon tetra

Will these gourami eat neon tetra? also how can I sex them?

It's a bit late isn't it? Should have done your research before getting the fishes.

Gouramis can be quarrelsome. Assuming your are referring to blue 3-spot gourami and not blue dwarf gourami. Gouramis are easily sexed by their dorsal fin. Male is pointed and female is rounded. It's usually not advisable to have more than 1 male in the tank. Even in mine, with 3 females, the dominant one still chase the others (gouramis). I would not risk your neons in the tank with angelfish as they will be eaten by them.

Hope that helps.

Adrian

Adrian not too late. I have plenty of places for my fish. Just trying to work out the best arrangement.

The neons are in another take now but I need some dither fish and someone else said that if the angels are small they can't eat neons yet and by the time the angel is big enough the neons will be too big to eat. I'm perfectly ok leaving them separate if I need to.

My problem with sexing is I think they're all the same. Not having the other kind to compare to

It is too late, they've been bought!

Neons don't grow too big to be eaten by angels, they'll just pick at them.

And its v. easy to sex gourami, just google search female/male whichever and see how they compare. The male dorsal is very pointed, its very different,

Also, i have to disagree that angels and gouramies are good tankmates.

Angels are incredibly aggressive (depending on the individual) especially during spawning. they also patrol the top half of the tank, as do gourami. You might get away with it in a 55 gallon, due to the high volume, provide lots of hiding places for the gourami though, like bogwood and plants, if you do decide to keep them.

If I had pics of each sex I could compare them.

I have all females on the gouramis. You say too late BC they've been bought but u don't take into consideration that I have other tanks I can move them to.

And I'm asking about neon tetra that are currently in another tank. I'm considering moving them. Since everyones perfectly at home where they currently are, I don't see what's too late.

It is too late, you should always research before you buy.

Problems might arise later down the line, when there isnt enough space or the hierarchy changes if one of the inhabitants becomes mature.

There are all sorts of problems to watch out for, just because they might look happy now doesnt mean they are or always will be.

So u just like being negative? What part of I like the fish and I'll get whatever they need don't you get. I'm here for info and to learn not for someone to tell me that I should have come earlier. Why? So u could berate me earlier?

No I dont actually. I dont like seeing people putting their pets in danger, but you go ahead and do what you think is right.
