Blue Glow Lights?

i bought 5 glow light tetras from my local store 4 were red but one was blue.it looks just like a glow light but his strip is blue not red. can someone tell me if you can get blue glow lights or is this fish not one.

Never seen one of them, sorry, does he look like he is pale all over, as you can't tell to well by the pic.

Not easy to tell from the picture. Short answer is no, the Glowlight tetra, Hemigrammus erythrozonus, does not come in a blue edition. There are many many species of tetras however, and a few oddballs creep into most shipments, (I know, I used to collect them!).

Did the shop have more of these blue ones or was this a one off?

It was a one off it was in a tank full of red glow lights and emperor tetras

Can you try to get a better picture of it, or give a full description? Is there a darker line with the blue line, part of the length only for example? Or a silvery maybe even orangish spot/mark above the stripe at the root of the tail? Any colouration/markings in the fins?

I think what you have is a Cochu's Blue tetra
very stunning fish all the same.

The-wolf you are by far the most helpful member i have met on this forum. You are right that is what he is thank you. it was because of you i was able to post that picture then you were the one to solve my question even from the dodgy picture.(i tired to get a better one but he is a bit camera shy and seems to realise whats going on when i bring out the camera and goes off and hides) thanks very much both of you. I think its members like you two that make this a great forum

It Does honestly Look like the Fish Paul has Id

Word of Warning, They are a Very Nippy Tetra, More so than Any other Tetra I have Kept. Had to take them back.

well makes no diffrence now. the little blue tetra was found this morning on his side at the bottom of my tank. he seemed fine the day before and had no sign of disease.but he did have what seemed like white bubbles on him the day before which i assumed came from the airstone that pumps out bubbles which sit on top of the water. When i scooped him off the bottom there was no sign of it. i dont think this was disease. wht do you think?
