My Ram was ill a while back a short while after i got her. She had an internal bacteria problem, but that has been sorted.

However, she seems to have stopped growing and i was wondering whether this is a consequence of her illness.

How big is she? They don't get that big so if she's 2-3", she's probably full grown already. Females are slightly smaller than males as well.

Otherwise, yes, some bacterial infections (TB comes to mind) cause growth to stop/slow. However, I wouldn't know if this is permanent as I have never had a fish that lived through TB and have never had a fish stop growing after ordinary internal bacterial infections either.

Maybe it's just going to be a while before she makes up for all the energy she used fighting the disease and starts putting it into growth a little more. Raising the temperature and feeding high quality foods will help with this.

I'd say she's only about 1" long, and compared to my other Ram who i got at the same time (I think he is now fully grown) she is tiny.

Apart from not growing, she seems fine. She is eating and her poo is normal.

But I am worried about her.

what tank size are they in?

DD

hmm, thats roughly 18 gallons US
They should be alright but a bigger tank might be better for them
what other tank mates do they have?
DD

Dwarf Gourami
5 x Cardinal Tetras
1 x Pleco
2 x Serpae Tetra
5 x Zebra Danios

Any ideas why she has stopped growing?
