hey guys, im starting a 75 gallon tank, and wanted to put a few of these guys in there. anyone know anything about them? where can i find them?!?! what other species can go with them? or anything else i should know about these pretty fish

Cichlasoma (Heros now I believe) spilurum or the "blue eyed cichlid" comes from Guatemala.

It prefers a neutral ph with a water temp of 72-77 degree's. It is a peaceful species suitable for a cichlid community tank as long as it is placed with like temprament species.

H. meeki (firemouth), H. severum, keyhole, uaru and many other species would work well with this species in a 75 gallon tank.

It is omnivorous in it's feeding, but does very well on a varied diet consisting not only of veggies, but protein matter as well.

It's can attain a size of 4.5-5", but may get slightly larger in the aquarium.

This species is considered moderately hard to breed which may be the reason they are sometimes hard to find.

Hope this helps.
