Blue crayfish

That temperature is definitely too high...it could kill a cray. As could that pH. 72 degrees is actually the recommended max...if you want a cray I'd recommend gettng it it's own tank...especially if you really like the fish in that tank as the cray won't hesitate to catch them if it can.

the tank is specially for cray fish, i added the scissor tails today.

I'm not sure about lowering PH for it, but I'm planning on letting my tank mature a bit first so will probable be in the fish shop for maybe a week with a PH of 8.4, so I'll have to see really.

The pH I'm not as sure about...8.4 might be ok...I'd ask on www.bluecrayfish.com. But you will DEFINITELY need to lower the temperature.

The temp i would turn down to bout 76 maybe.
Thats what the breeding tank at work is on, Higher temp more active the cray.
They will not die on 79, but that does seem alittle to high.
After all these years on breeding/keeping crayfish, i still dont know the Ph lol...

Stina also has a point, if you like your fish, i wouldnt put the cray in there.
He may not catch them in the first day, second or the third. But one unlucky day for them fish will cost them their lives. crayfish are very good predators

What species of cray are you referring to?...P. alleni do better at the warmer temps than most others because of where they are from...being Floridians and all...lol Most North American species need it lower than 75 to be as healthy as possible...and for some species 79 could very well kill them.

I am in australia, we would DEFINATLY have different crays.
I am talking about, Blue yabbies, Red claw Maron, Electric blue maron.

It seems that I really can't do much until I have the name of the cray fish the stockists have.

I added the scissor tails in mind that there high swimming fish and very nippy, I can move them to another tank though.

I guess I'll have to get some PH lowering chemicals then.

The problem with nippy fish would be when the cray moults.....freshly moulted crays are extremely vulnerable and a nippy fish may very well try to eat it and kill it.
