My computers old and i can't download pics. He is mostly blue and has purple along the lines in his shell. I am worried though, he will not eat shrimp pellets, or fresh fish bits, i am going to Petco today to buy some feeder fish.He is growing fast even without food. Whats causing him not to eat??? he is active crawling around and trying to escape( i got a lid at Walmart). Also, whenever i walk in he hides, my friend said he used t o be very friendly, do you think the stress from the move caused him not to trust us?Thank you!
I'm sorry i missed you post till now.

from your description you, might, have an Australian RedClaw crayfish.
this means you do need a bigger tank (20g min) and its truly tropical (actually the only one found so far) so it does need a heater.
now, obviously, I'm not 100% sure, but only heat and housing are different from any other cray.
so the following advice is "catch all"
its mature so:
first off Crayfish are not carnivores.
the are in fact omnivores. sharing similar dietary requirement to a common placo!
they should be fed on fish flake, algae wafer, catfish pellets and any over rip veg or fruit you have. (actuall they will eat anything.)
dont worry too much.
if its a bit stressed, it may well be eating when you are not around
never ever feed a cray feeder fish. even if it was fed them before.
and please dont feed fresh, frozen or even cooked shrimp. they can carry a disease that is not killed by either cooking or freezing.
this is fatal to Cray. (oddly call White Spot. but not connected with ICH)

I'd guess stress myself, too.
so I would reduce the tank heat to just over 70. (mine hovers around 74)
cray are prone to bacterial infections.
as with all stock, stress can cause them to rear up.

only time will tell1

keep us posted.

ps. Just had a thought (no sniggering at the back there!)

can you type Cherax quadricarinatus into googl? images?
have a look at them, and see if thats what you have.
if not, type Procambarus alleni, blue.
then Procambarus clarkii, blue.
we should be able to pin it down, after that.

No he is not what you expected. He is problem most likely the Clarki, but still not exact. He is darker blue with more purple, but no red claws, or sky blue. He's eaten a little:)

ahh, ok.
but remember only male Redclaws have a red patch on their claws.
females have totally blue ones.
and, whilst they are all blue, the depth of colour is dependent on environment.
do its claws have a smooth surface, or is it irregular?

but we will take it as a clarki.
which means we are "as you were", lol.

it will take time for the cray to settle.
I wouldn't worry too much.
and its good to hear you have seen it eat.
it will, at least, put your mind at rest for a while.
