i read somewhere that bloodworms hatch and become flies. is this true? because my lfs told me to just dump a a couple dollars worth into my tank and the crayfish and turtle will eat them at their leasure. he told me that it would last a couple weeks. im going to be upset if i have a bunch of little flies hovering around

They most certainly do,they are the larvae of a non biting species of mosquito, should take about 10 days for them to turn to flies.

Oh man i hope they all get eaten before they turn into flies. That would be nasty to have all those flying around your house.

I once bought a packet of live bloodworms to feed my red crabs and within a week they turned into flies! Really depends on how big they r when u buy them..

I've stored them in the fridge for up to a month, wondering what sort of conditions it would take to get them to hatch, not that I'd want to mind you.
