Hi,
I have been around a few fish shops today and I have been wondering whether it is worth feeding my tropics blood worm. I have had them up to a year now and they have been fine on flakes so is it worth the hassle as they seem quite happy. Would there be any benefit?

Thanks

Yea why not. Bloodworm is my fishs most fravoit food of all. But becareful not too over feed :).

Bloodworm to them is like a sunday roast for us, yummy yummy.
They eat them up in no time and love it!!!
As said, dont overfeed, too many and they can have too much protein which isnt good.

You should try to vary the diet you give your fish as the flake food could lead to them having problems.

Thanks for that, I have seen two different types, frozen and the normal carton stuff, which would you go for? Im tempted with the frozen thinking that it would be more fresher?

Frozen is best, in my opinion

Frozen is best.
You can get dried but that just looks manky to me.
I've got some in packets of jelly if im in a rush and no time to defrost frosen. Just chuck them in there and munch munch munch

i am surprised at some of the answers here!

Some Tropicals should definitely NOT be fed bloodworm, and when I have this in mind I point towards Malawi Mbuna who are predominantly herbivorous, whose digestional (is that a word?? -_- ) gubbins cannot break down the high volumes of protein in such food as bloodworm.

If you were to do so they would end up with Malawi Bloat and you would have a tank of dead fish!!

Before you feed any bloodworm research each species of fish you have and see what their dietary requirements are.

If they can handle a high protein diet then all well and good but only feed the bloodworm as a supplementary to the flakes, i.e. as a treat perhaps once a week.
