does anybody know if i could put a pair of blood parrots in with a single Jack Dempsy and a Common plec in a 55 gallon tank if i made lots and lots of caves and places for ne bullied fish to hide? as of rite now the JD is about 3-3.5 inches long and if i were to get blood parrots they would only be 1-1.5 inches, would this be a good idea?

im not too sure about blood parrots, maybe the hybrid section will give you advice with capibility with the jacks. if it were my tank, i would keep the jack dempsey and common plec, but the plec gets really big so eventually you would have to get rid of it. not for a while though... i think you could keep it for atleast a year depending ont the growth rate. if it started getting over a foot i would get rid of it, (they poop alot). im pretty sure it would be ok with one blood parrot, 1 jack, 1 common plec, but im not too sure if it would be ok with a pair of blood parrots. just research the fish and see waht recommended tank sizes are and then base your tank off of the info you find from here and other sites :)
good luck!

i think it would be fine with a pair of parrots, although i dont know if they could stand up for themselves

What other tank mates have you got in the tank and whats the tank size because if it is not big enough they will fight to the death.

I Think parrots are pretty tuff but JD's are stubren the JD would probaly try and fight it, it all depends on the fish tho.
