Hello, A convict of mine has laid eggs in a cave and my female blood parrot keeps blocking the exit/entrance.
I know for a fact that the eggs are not the parrots because it can not fit in the cave.
I also know the convict is female because of the orange on her tummy. The weird thing is, the parrot chases away any fish that comes near the cave and then goes back.
The female convict won't even try to get out.

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE????

Sounds like they have paired off even tho they are both female, it can happen.

Your blood parrot sounds like a male, as with most cichlids the male guards the cave and female where as the female protects the eggs inside the cave.

The BP is definitly a female as she lays eggs herself about every few months but their is no male to fertilise them so they go all white and die.
