Help please! My blood parrot has developed this spot and I’m so scared! Can anyone tell me what it is? This fish is my baby and I love him more than anything. I’d be heartbroken if he dies.

Looks like a tumor or an abscess. If it is a tumor I don't think there is much you can do. If it is an abscess then a salt treatment might help. Online literature suggests 1 tablespoon per 3 gallons.

I don't have a lot of experience with fish diseases hopefully someone with more experience will weight in on this thread. The most likely reason no one has responded is because they are in the same boat as I am. Not really sure what the issue is and not really sure how to deal with it.

I have had a number of fish with tumors over the years, sometimes they live quite a while.

That is good to know. I have never taken a fish to a vet, what was the experience like? Also if you don't mind me asking how expensive is it, if you don't want to answer that is ok. I likely wouldn't take a tetra to the vet but might consider for a fish like yours.
