Blood Parrot Facts?

I have two parrots in a 36" tank with a plec, clown loach and a catfish - they get on fine, no nipping/fighting etc...

In time you will need atleasta 75 gallon tank(as mentiond),more depending on what species of catfish.

I get scared of my bp's sometimes.I really think they have some extra kind of intelligence to other fish, they can learn to do tricks to get food, and mine constantly stare at me when i am sitting down.It looks like they are trying to talk.Look on this website and someone has a massive parrot who can't eat properly, they trained it to swim into a net they then rest him in a water put some cichlid sticks in his mouth. When he has had enough he spashes and they let him go back in. :p ...and no i'm not lying

Just posting some love for our blood parrot...
We have a 60 gal tank for 1 bp, an oscar, a jack dempsey & a pleco.
The Parrot (Mr. Orange) lives in a vase and after we clean the tank and move things around he digs out all the dirt.
He's bitten my husband several times when he's put his hand near the vase, his mouth is so small it does nothing, but it's funny as hell to watch my 6'2 man jump when a 7inch fish attacks him : )

We also fondly call him "the lummox" because since his mouth is so small and he can't bite he charges the giant oscar and dempsey out of his way when they get near his vase.

I think it's cruel how they dye these fish and at our local pet shop they have 2 that are tattoed with lipstick and one has I LUV U written on it's side. We didn't know when we bought him about this cruelty, but we like muts so he's a nice addidition to our pure bred cichlid family : )

Have fun with your parrots! :*
