Hello everyone! So I have a terrible bloated Angelfish (I think male), whose belly has grown in the past week. I have been feeding him very lightly and have treated the tank with imagitarium meds for 5 days (The only ones available at my lfs). Water paremeters are completely normal and temp is 80. I would appreciate suggestions fast as I am leaving for vacation soon! Thanks in advance!

How big is you tank?

Does he live with any tank mates?

How long has the tank been setup? :)

Hmm...I will do some research, and get back to you!

(Are the 3 other angle fish all male, or all female?) :)

I am no expert in Angel fish but I believe they can tolerate salt. Check first. You can do an Epsom salt bath using Epsom salt with no perfumes added, just pure Epsom salt. Put about a gallon of tank water in a large bowl and add one teaspoon of Epsom salt. Place fish in bath for 3 minutes. If he tolerates it well the next time you can do it for 5 minutes. Then place him back in quarantine. You can do this 3 times a day. Epsom salt pulls fluid off And works as a mild laxative too. It may help the bloat. Fast him for a couple days too then offer him a blanched, deshelled pea. Good luck! If that doesn’t help he may have a bacterial infection or a parasite infection. API General Cure May be worth a try. Has he pooped?

I think it also be better to show a video on how the fish moves.

I just want to check the scales and see if he’s pineconing. A video will be fine or a pic.

Any chance of a picture and short 20 second video of the fish?
If the pictures are too big for the website, set the camera's resolution to its lowest setting and take some more. The lower resolution will make the images smaller and they should fit on this website. Check the pictures on your pc and find a couple that are clear and show the problem, and post them here. Make sure you turn the camera's resolution back up after you have taken the pics otherwise all your pictures will be small.

If the video is too big for this website, post it on YouTube and copy & paste the link here. We can view it at YouTube. If you are using a mobile phone to take the video, have the phone horizontal so the video takes up the entire screen. If you have the phone vertical, you get video in the middle and black on either side.

How long has the tank been set up for?
How often do you do water changes and how much water do you change?
Do you gravel clean the substrate when you do a water change?
Do you dechlorinate the new water before adding it to the tank?

How often do you clean the filter?
How do you clean the filter?

How long have you had the fish for?
Have you added anything to the tank in the last couple of weeks?
How long has the fish been fat for?
Did it get fat overnight, or over the course of a couple of weeks?
Is the fish still eating normally?
Is the fish pooping normally?

What's in the imagitarium medication?
Do you have carbon (black granules) in the filter?

So sorry guys for not responding... I just got back from my vacation (camping with no wifi) and saw you responses. Sadly he passed away.... So to try to answer your questions , he had some white poop, gradually got fat and stopped eating 3 days before he died, I do 50% water change every week (while cleaning gravel), clean filter every month in aqurium water, use declorinater , dosed the imagitarium parasite and bacterial fungal medicine (from Petco) for 5 days before hand. His scales were were not pineconeing nor his eyes bulging. Also no carbon in filter. I am worried that my other fish and angels could get it and would like some closure as to what killed him. Thanks in advance

It was probably an internal bacterial infection. Do a 75% water change and gravel clean every 1-2 days for a couple of weeks. Make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.

Clean the filter if it hasn't been done in the last 2 weeks. Wash filter media in a bucket of tank water.

Monitor the fish and see how they go.
