Blind Cave Tetra Stocking?

I think I might try some Blind Cave Tetras for my 30 gallon. I have been looking for something that will occupy the mid levels of the tank as there is only L.brevispinis catfish in there, so it's not a very lively tank during the day as you can imagine. I need something big enough so they won't fit in the catfishes mouths, and an added bonus of going with Blind Cave tetras is that I can continue to feed that tank at night to accomidate the catfish and the tetras at the same time.
Just wondering what everyone thought of this stocking idea, and any suggestions on numbers?

what are your tank dimensions, aduly blindcave tetras are suprisingly large fish

The tank is roughly 31"L x 12"W x 18"H.

They aren't strongly schooling fish, so 4-6 should be just fine.

I'm curious to know this too, I've wanted to keep them for a long time.

Thanks for the info. I have kept them before in my out door pond during the summer months but never inside. I did some looking around my LFS and one place does have a bunch of Blind Cave tetras but they are a bit small. I fear that the catfish may eat them at this size.
