I would be surprised if he is happy in there for life. PFK states they can easily hit 3 feet in tanks. Having a tank only as wide as the fish is long will be a little tight. He should be fine for some time in the 8x3x3, but don't be surprised to have to upgrade again later in life.

Great fish though.

yeah i really dont think an 8x3x3, it can be just about ok to have a tank with the same width as the length of the fish with fish that just sit there all day, but snakeheads can be quite active.

thanks guys for your concerns i personally think a 8*3*3 is big enough, if not it will just give me an excuse to build a bigger one :good: btw has any one ever seen for them selfs a micropeltes in aquaria at 3 foot if so a pic with some scale would be great to see :hyper:

Take a visit to the Aquatic Experience at Syon Park in Isleworth (London) They have (if they still have the beasts) 2 redline snakeheads which are easily 3 feet each in each of their smaller pools (one shares with a caimen as well) There are also several large black pacu in each pool as well, all of which have large circular bite marks in them from where the redlines have gotten hungry. The owner of the place said they are the single most aggressive animal he has ever had in his care, including large venemous snakes and large lizards.

wow sounds like a good day out il give the place a google :good:
