If I gave you a 4ft long tank [14 inches deep and 20 inches high] approx. 235 litres or 53 gallons, what would YOU stock it with? Totally blank canvas.

sounds boring, but I've always wanted a large, heavily planted tank full of neon tetras. Like I said, sounds dull, but when you see a large group of them swimming it is really quite majestic. Maybe add a couple of german rams too.

I was thinking a similar thing but with a huge group of Galaxy Rasbora/Celestial Peral Danios.

Either that or go for something really unusual and make it a Biotope tank for Giant Afrian Filter shrimp.

I think tanks with a lot of one or two species oftem look much better than tanks with a few of everything

I'd probably try and create a show tank with it, have it heavily planted with some choice pieces of bogwood. For fish I would probably have a pair of long finned rams, they look stunning. As well as the rams I would have only one group of tetras but say 15 of them, and for the bottom around 10 corys.

your tank is only going to hold about 200litre max.
to work out the volume of water
multiply the Length x Width x Height in cm
divide by 1000
equals volume in litres.

I would have a school of corys on the bottom, some hatchetfish up the top, and maybe some splashing tetras or swordtail characins in the middle. Perhaps add a group of Pseudomugil gertrudae or Iriatherina werneri for contrast.
And lots of plants along the back with a dark substrate.

Oooh, where do I start?:

school of pearl gouramis for the top, school of black neons for colour contrast and group of khuulies for the bottom

or

group of leopard frog plecs for the bottom (hoping they'd breed) and a BIG school of endlers for the top

or

large school of danio khyatits for the top, pair of green phantom plecs for the bottom

or

school of davidsandsii corydoras for bottom, black phantom tetras for top and maybe a school of glowlights

or (how many goes do I get?)

a livebearer tank with black-bellied limias, male swordtail with harem and a pair of bristlies for the bottom

or

group of ameca splendens, group of hillstream loaches- and I wonder if a group of golden barbs might work in this setup

or

pair of whiptails at the bottom, large school of harlequin rasboras and a pair of banded gouramis

or

brackish tank with sailfin mollies

no, I really must stop this, must go and do water changes on the tanks I have instead of setting up new ones...

Oh, always wanted Discus, but not got the room yet. Sand substrate, then 6-8 blue/banded Discus. With possibly small school of cardinals.

When can I have the tank please!!!!
