Hi everyone i just purchaesed 6 black widow tetra and have found some background information on them but would like to have some information from people who have owned them in the past or have them now. thnaks for the help!

Nyes well I'm hoping you've completed the nitrogen cycle or are willing to keep up with water changes.

These are one of the hardiest tetras with a wide ph range (5.5-8.5). I'm not sure of the temperature but they like a bit less lighting and although a schooling fish it seems to be happy as just a pair too.

I've had 5 with my new tank for 3 months. They've generally been fine although they do constantly bicker between themselves and one got a mouth sore which has healed. I got them because of their hardiness and so far have been successful.

I keep them at 23C as I have some white clouds in there who are not so keen on higher temps and my water is neutral.

Thanks for your help. They seem to be doing fine but some do seem to have mouth sores as well! Any good treatment for that or do they get over it!! I have some general treatments for my fish and i will try it. I think alot of these mouth sores are from them bickering and stuff soo i wont get to worrid unless it persists after treatment. Thanks for all the help! :D

I put in some EHSA 2000 (I think it's 2000). It tackles a wide variety of ailments and is relatively weak so you can add some anytime.

I might need it again as another has a red lip as if fighting and has got a white bit above it.
